I’d like to recommend a HKBU course here – CHI 1160 The Art of Kunqu, taught by Ms. CHEUNG Lai chun (張麗真女士), a professional and experienced Chinese art scholar and composer in Hong Kong. You may refer to the link here to see her profile. (http://www.cciv.cityu.edu.hk/content.php?p=kunqu&content=kunqu)
Kunqu Opera, as an original and typical form of Chinese Classical Drama, which I’ve introduced in my former posts, has become increasingly popular among the public in recent years. As Ms. CHEUNG teaches students how to sing a tune and encourage them to explore the culture more than only giving an introduction, so far this course is unique among the universities in Hong Kong.
The time for class is 09:30-12:30 am, on every Thursday next semester. HKBU uploaded a poster (in Chinese) to promote the course.(http://eposting.hkbu.edu.hk/filepost/2012b/2012112023709chi.pdf)
The photos above taken by me in Nanjing, Mainland China, represent the performance by Jiangsu Province Kunqu Opera Theater, which I get acquainted with through Ms. CHEUNG.
You are more than welcome to ask me any questions or queries.
